IDB Executive Board 191st session starts

JEDDAH: The 191st session of the Executive Board of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) has started at the bank's headquarters here, under the chairmanship of the bank's President, Dr. Ahmed Mohammad Ali.

Among the topics that are to be discussed would be the financing of a number of projects and the provision of a number of scholarships from the IDB's Trust Fund to Muslim communities in non-member countries of the IDB.

Other topics include the simplification of the procedures for financing projects in least developed member countries, so as to encourage them to take advantage of the available facilities.

The session will also look into the projected budget for this year for the agricultural centre set up by the IDB in Dubai, with the support of United Arab Emirates (UAE), and the appointment of its external expeditor.

The meeting will also discuss a report by the IDB president regarding the possibility of compensating some national establishments that are concerned with the administration of the bank's Export Promotion Programme in member countries.

Another topic that is expected to come under discussion would be the IDB's future policies, plans, and direction, in addition to various technical and administrative reports regarding some of the projects in which the bank has a stake, including the progress made in their implementation.

Prior to the Executive Board session, a number of committees had held their meetings, to discuss such matters as finance, administration, retirement, annual report, and the like.ÑAPP
