Hearing in Farooq Sattar's habeas corpus case adjourned
KARACHI: A division bench of the Sindh High Court comprising Justice Dr Ghous Mohammed and Justice Zahid Kurban Alvi on Tuesday adjourned till February 4 hearing of a habeas corpus petition filed against alleged illegal detention of Dr Farooq Sattar, leader of Haq Parast Group in the suspended provincial assembly of Sindh.
The adjournment came as Deputy Attorney General for Pakistan (DAG) Syed Zaki Mohammed sought more time to file details of allegations against Dr Farooq Sattar who remained Sindh senior minister and minister for local bodies in coalition government of Liaquat's government.
The petition was filed by Abdul Sattar Perwani, father of the alleged detenue.
On a complaint by Senator Aftab Shaikh who is also an advocate and a counsel alleged detenue Munir A Malik, advocate representing NAB (National Accountability Bureau) stated that persons desirous of meeting with the accused will give an application to NAB, joint secretary 24 hours in advance of any meeting with the accused.
The bench also deferred hearing of an application by the counsel of accused K M Nadeem pertaining to certain facilities including superior class to the accused, provision of newspapers, etc.
Another bench of the SHC comprising Justice Sayyed Saeed Ashhad granted bail to an accused Baqaullah against a surety of Rs 0.1 million.
The accused was booked for misappropriation of Rs 2.8 million from the accounts of union council, Mirpurkhas. APP
