Yemen to welcome Pak private sector investment in EFZs projects

KARACHI: Private sector investment from Pakistan in projects in the Eden Free Zones (EFZs) would be more than weclome by the Republic of Yemen. List of these projects and details of zones will be provided to FPCCI shortly.
This was stated by Abdulla Abdul Rahman Al-Mayouni, Minister of Republic of Yemen who called on Mian Habibullah, former FPCCI President, and chairman of its, Standing Committee on Diplomatic Affairs at the Islamabad office of the FPCCI. The three-member delegation of the Embassy of the Republic of Yemen was led by the minister.
The minister was informed that a high-powered businessmen's delegation representing FPCCI will be visiting Yemen during the last week of February, to explore possibility of increasing the present volume of trade between the two countries. The delegation will be invited to visit Eden Free Zones and see potential of Pakistan's private sector in the projects.
Welcoming the Yemeni delegation at the FPCCI, Mian Habibullah briefed them about the present trade volume between Pakistan and Yemen. Pakistan's major exports to Yemen during the period 1993-1999 included textile yarn and fabrics, artricle of apparel, cloth accessories, surgical instruments, rice, petroleum products and allied material, tobaccos manufacturers, pharma products, sugarcane refined, electric ceiling fans and articles of iron/steel forged NCS, etc.
Pakistan imported high speed diesel oil, kerosene, goat skin raw, furnace oil, turning shaving clips etc. acid oils from fefinin, ferrous waste and scrap and leather and leather manufacturers. Pakistan greatly values trade and economic relations with the Muslim Ummah, Mian Habibullah said and invited Abdullah to visit showroom of the Export Promotion Bureau in Karachi and have the catalogues of Pakistan's exportable items.
Pakistan can also export to Yemen its best quality lobsters and prawns fish both in small and king size as well as live crabs. These type of fish are already exported to Singapore and other countries. There is also strong potential of Pakistan's export of footwear to Yemen.
Later Mian Habibullah presented FPCCI crest on behalf of the FPCCI President to Abdullah. The investment kits of BoI and sectoral studies on few projects prepared by the BoI were also presented to the distinguished Minister of Yemen.
