PTA to invite applications shortly

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) will invite applications through advertisements for issuing licenses for regulating the sector of cable TV channels in a couple of days following the Federal Cabinet's decision.

According to sources of the ministry of communications, advertisements would be issued to invite the applications for private TV channels (only for transmission not for generation) possibly on January 26 or 27 after finalising rules regarding the issuance of licenses for this purpose.

It may be mentioned here that the federal cabinet has set up an inter-ministerial committee comprising ministries of communications, finance, information and media development and culture to review rules and the specific parameters that would become applicable for issuance of licenses. APP
