Apcea-aided terminal at F'abad airport completed

FAISALABAD: All Pakistan Cloth Exporters Association (Apcea) has completed the international terminal building at Faisalabad airport at a cost of Rs 5.5 million despite the fact that the PIA has cancelled the only regular and direct international flight from Faisalabad to Dubai.

The exporters of the city had generated funds from their own resources to fulfil the only precondition of the PIA and CAA to start direct international flights from this agro-industrial city of Punjab. Apcea has doubled the capacity of the existing arrival and departure lounges while ten additional rooms have also been added for the offices of the CAA. Apcea has also provided four air-conditioners of 6 tonnes capacity each for the lounges besides providing other required facilities.

Apcea will also provide necessary facilities at the temporary Haji camp to be set up in government cooperative training college to make the stay of the intending pilgrims comfortable. Apcea had last year provided funds for the construction of additional lavatories and bathrooms in addition to the repair and maintenance of the rooms and kitchen in the Haji Camp. Apcea will also provide 250 mattresses and blankets for the intending pilgrims from its own resources. Meanwhile a meeting will be held here on Tuesday to finalise arrangements for the upcoming Haj season. Commissioner Faisalabad will chair the meeting while Javed Sadiq Kahloon, Senior Vice Chairman of Apcea will represent local industrialists and exporters in this meeting.
