on roads
RECORDER REPORT
KARACHI: The provincial communication and works department, which had earlier fixed road construction and renovation target at 512 km roads to be completed by October 12, had so far utilised Rs 22 million on-going works.
The Sindh government had allocated Rs 800 million in the current year's budget for the construction of 452 roads in the province..
Works department officials said that the foreign funded projects were in progress. The Asian Development Bank's (ADB) rural access project of 403 km roads scheme in different districts costing Rs 1437.757 million would be completed by the end of December 2000.
Besides these projects, under Japanese assisted programme 143 km road in rural Sindh districts costing Rs 750.363 million is under progress and would be completed by end June, 2000, the officials said.
