Dialysis machine of Civil Hospital out of order since 1992

SUKKUR: The single dialysis machine of Civil Hospital Sukkur has been out of order since 1992, depriving the poor kidney patients of their life saving treatment.

This was informed by a large number of kidney patients to a team of local journalists during a visit of the hospital.

They said costly dialysis treatment is available at some of the private hospitals and clinics of Sukkur, which they cannot afford.

The patients urged the government to hold probe into the disorder of the dialysis machine of Civil Hospital, remaining for over seven years.

An inquiry from the hospital sources revealed that machine function was suspended because of non-availability of some of its spares, but it was surprising that a hospital like Civil Hospital Sukkur, which has been upgraded to the rank of Civil Hospitals of Karachi and Hyderabad, is lacking such important facility for kidney patients.
