Call to promote proficiency in journalism
HYDERABAD: Prominent journalist Ghazi Salahuddin has underlined the need to inculcate professionalism in the field of journalism and added that it was necessary for journalists to become aware of the latest information technology.
He was addressing as facilitator at the concluding day of a two-day training workshop of journalists organised by Takhleeque Foundation here at Hyderabad Press Club on Sunday.
He said that the journalists need to adopt objectivity while reporting stories in their newspapers.
He said after the introduction of latest information technology it was need of the hour for national newspapers to appoint district reporters for their newspapers.
He said that reading habit had decreased among the people due to various reasons and was a dangerous trend. He cited example of newspapers' circulation in neighbouring countries and said that circulation of papers published from a single city in other countries was higher than the circulation of all newspapers published in this country.
He also dilated upon various problems faced by journalists, besides reporting techniques use of information technology and current issues during his speech.
The workshop was participated in by about 30 journalists of Hyderabad. Mohammad Yaqub and Ishaque Soomro of Takhleeque Foundation were also present.ÑAPP
