Motawakkil due today

ISLAMABAD: Afghanistan Foreign Minister Wakil Ahmed Motawakkil arrives here on Sunday for talks with Pakistani officials on bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.

He is expected to meet Foreign Minister Abdul Sattar on Monday.

According to reports, Motawakkil would also meet with Iranian officials in Islamabad.

A six-member Iranian delegation is currently in Kabul, the first delegation to visit the Afghan capital since the 1996 closure of Iranian embassy there after the Taliban took over the city.

The interaction between Iran and Taliban-led Afghan government has recently intensified. Iran in November opened its eastern Islam Qila borders for trade with Herat province of Afghanistan.ÑAPP
