Malaysia to present new 2000 budget on Feb 25

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's Finance Minister Daim Zainuddin will table the 2000 federal budget on February 25, the national Bernama news agency reported.

It quoted the Parliamentary Secretary Mohamad Salleh Hassan as saying that the budget would be debated for seven days in parliament.

Mohamad Salleh said two days have been set aside for Daim to reply to the debate.

The government has said it would fulfill all the proposals made in the budget presented to the outgoing parliament in October.

The old budget could not be approved by parliament which was dissolved to pave the way for snap polls in November.-Reuters
