LHC releases 6 kiln workers

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Saturday released six kiln workers including women from unlawful detention of a kiln owner of Mandi Bahaudin.

The court passed the order in a habeas corpus petition filed by the relative of the workers through counsel Aslam Sindhu that a kiln (bhatta) owner Sultan illegally detained 6 workers including women at his kiln. It was submitted that they were being subjected to severe torture in the illegal detention of the respondent, and were in a miserable condition.

The petitioner had earlier prayed the court to order their production in the court through bailiff. The bailiff on court's directions raided the scene and recovered the detainees, who were produced before the court on Saturday.ÑAPP
