Jabbar opens computer institute
Recorder Report
Lahore: Advisor to the Chief Executive, Javed Jabbar, has stressed the need for promotion of computer technology in the country, adding that the government was taking concrete measures in this regard.
He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of the Overseas Pakistanis Institute of Computer Sciences and Technology (OPICST) here on Saturday.
He regretted that " we are still unable to face the world challenges." We should have command over all kinds of technology, he added.
Javed Jabbar said that the students, besides concentrating on computer technology, must pay their attention towards other fields of education, including religious studies.
He said that Pakistan was far behind India in the export of computer software. Therefore, the present regime would take special steps to boost software exports.
"It is our desire that every Pakistani, including labourer and farmers, should have personal computers so that they could make progress in their practical life," he maintained.
Addressing the ceremony, Chairman, OPICST, Sardar Muhammad Yousaf Khan, said that 35 million overseas Pakistanis played a pivotal role in the setting of the institution.
