Illegal constructions KBCA to start demolition with FWO help

KARACHI: The Oversee Committee of Karachi Building Control Authority (KBCA), which met here on Saturday under the chairmanship of Secretary, Housing, Anzar Hussain Zaidi, decided to initiate immediate demolition action against buildings which are under construction in violation of building plans and are also unoccupied.

The meeting further decided that legal action must be taken at the very start of an illegal construction, and the people involved in it, so that such tendency is discouraged in the very beginning.

It was decided to acquire the expertise of Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) for carrying out a secure demolition operation in a scientific manner. For this purpose the Chief Controller of Buildings was authorised to make contact with FWO.

The meeting was attended by KDA Director General Allah Rakha Aasi, KBCA Chief Controller Akhtar Iqbal Usmani and controllers besides Committee members M M I Hussain and Farooq Zaman of Abad, Raza Gardezi and Roland D'Souza of Shehri, Nooruddin of PEC and Kazi Faiz Essa.ÑAPP
