F'abad region to have 16 digital telephone exchanges by June

FAISALABAD: Sixteen new rural digital telephone exchanges are being constructed in the Faisalabad Telecommunication Region involving an expenditure of Rs 500 million.

These exchanges would be completed before June 30.

This was stated by Abdul Latif Gandapur, General Manager, FTR, here on Saturday.

He said that after the commissioning of the new telephone exchanges all the pending applications for telephone connections will be disposed of. He said that at present 200 rural digital exchanges in seven districts of the Faisalabad Telecommunication Region are operating.

In Faisalabad, 76 digital telephone exchanges are working and the pending applications for new telephone connections will be disposed of by February 15, he added.

He also said that the Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited has expedited its recovery process in Faisalabad Region and decided to recover the arrears of telephone bills as land revenue, besides permanently disconnecting the telephones, of defaulters.
