Construction of Islamabad-Peshawar expressway decided

ISLAMABAD: The government has decided to proceed with construction of the Islamabad-Peshawar limited access expressway.

The decision was taken in a high-level meeting held recently where it was felt that international commitment in this regard be honoured.

Sources said the government is of the view that in order to provide strategic depth as well as to remove congestion from the existing highway, an alternate artery was required.

However, the scale should be in accordance with traffic volume, the sources said.

It has been decided that this project be implemented in a way that it will provide real benefit to the people. This is in line with the government's resolve to make optimum use of available resources, the sources added. APP
