Burundi rebels kill dozens
BUJUMBURA: Ethnic Hutu rebels in Burundi have killed dozens of civilians in a province which borders on neighbouring Tanzania.
About 1,600 houses had also been burned and hundreds of goats and cattle stolen or killed in this week's attacks on three districts in the eastern province of Rutana.
It said civilians fled the attacks into neighbouring districts and into Tanzania, where more than 300,000 Burundian refugees have already taken refuge.
Three Hutu rebel groups are fighting against Burundi's Tutsi-dominated army in a civil war that has claimed more than 200,000 lives, mostly civilians, since it began in 1993.-Reuters
