'Anti-education policies' condemned
RECORDER REPORT
HYDERABAD: The Students Action Committee, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, has termed the policies of Vice Chancellor as "Anti-education".
The committee leaders, in a press conference at Hyderabad press club on Saturday, condemned the steps taken by the university administration.
The committee announced that unless the problems of the students were resolved the examinations, scheduled to be held on January 24, and other academic activities will be boycotted.
The leaders of the action committee severely criticised the 61 percent attendance rule. They said one academic year of 200 students would be destroyed and 250 students of final year would be affected because of this rule.
They said the university authorities had affected inordinate increase in the admission, examination, hostel, transport and penalty fees and the final-year students had been denied all Pakistan study tour.
They alleged that neither medical nor ambulance facilities had been made available for the students.
