AJK speaker urges CE to call APC for consensus on CTBT

From A Correspondent

MUZAFFARABAD: Ch Abdul Majeed, Speaker of the AJK Legislative Assembly, on Saturday urged Chief Executive Gen Pervez Musharraf to convene an all parties conference for reaching a national consensus on CTBT signing.

Addressing a news conference here, he said that India and some of the western countries are hell-bent to get Pakistan declared a terrorist state.

He appealed the Pakistani politicians not to deviate from the national interest and reach a consensus on this issue.

He believed that Pakistan was passing through a crucial time period as there is financial crisis in the country and also there is no stability.

The speaker stated, "We have confidence in the armed forces of Pakistan and they have taken the oath to defend every inch of the country."

"We will appeal to the government and political parties of Pakistan to get united and sign CTBT to avoid to be declared as terrorist state" the speaker urged while arguing that Indian propaganda for declaration of Pakistan as a rogue state would be ended by the signing of CTBT.

He said that Kashmiris on both sides of LoC have got new courage following Gen Pervez Musharraf's bold stance on the dispute.

Majeed added that Kashmiris were rendering sacrifices for the completion and solidarity of Pakistan and asked the military government to go ahead in accordance with the wishes of the masses of Pakistan.

Condemning the Indian aggression and deputation of more Indian troops to occupied Kashmir, the speaker vowed that Indian barbarism cannot dampen the spirit of freedom.

The speaker feared that if core issue of Kashmir was not addressed as per the will of the masses of Kashmir, South Asia could plunge into a nuclear war.

He extended full support to the APHC call to observe a 'Black Day' on the republic day of India on January 26.
