FPCCI asked to give names for Pak-China business council

KARACHI: The Chinese Council for Promotion of International Trade ( CCPIT ) has finalised the list of members for the Pakistan-China Business Council ( PCBC ) and they urgently want to know about the finalisation of names from FPCCI side.
A CCPIT delegation is planning to visit Pakistan in March/April to hold the first session/meeting of the PCBC. The purpose of formation of this council is to explore the possibilities of further enhancement in bilateral trade to find out ways for resolution of trade disputes and make suggestions for expansion of economic co-operation and Chinese investment into Pakistan.
Pakistan's Commercial Counsellor in Beijing feels that the PCBC could play a very effective role in promotion of trade and economic relations between Pakistan and China to truly reflect the friendhip between the two countries.
He has suggested to the FPCCI to finalise the names of council members at the earliest and convey it to the CCPIT. Adequate and comprehensive preparations may also be started for holding the first meeting of the PCBC in March/April in Pakistan to make it a really meaningful event.
Meanwhile, China Township Enterprises (CTEs) are looking for projects/partners for investment in Pakistan.
The CTE are owned by China's farmers who are trying to diversified economy from traditional agricultural production. China has 20.04 million township enterprises, engaging 125 million persons in the business, producing goods worth RMB 9,669.4 billion yuan ($ 1,174.8 billion ) each year.
More than 1,000 varieties of products are being produced in these township enterprises, which include chemicals, textiles, light industrial products, machinery, electronics, domestic electrical appliances and agricultural products processing. A large number of township entrepreneurs have emerged who are seeking new opportunities for the co-operation in investment and setting up enterprises in foreign countries.
With the approval of the Chinese government, the Township Enterprises Development Centre of the Ministry of Agriculture of the People's Republic of China is holding the "Trade Conference of Co-operation in Economy and Technology of China Township Enterprises " from April 4-5, 2000.
Main programmes of the conference will be business discussions for: joint ventures in light industry, electronics, domestic electric appliances and chemicals, co-operation in hybrid rice, wheat, corn, agricultural machinery, fertilizers and insecticides, technology transfer for small and medium-sized enterprises from 50 state level scientific research institutes and universities, and a visit to township enterprises around Beijing.
The Commercial Counsellor, Pakistan Embassy, Beijing, has desired circulation of the above information among interested businessmen who may like to attend the conference to find suitable projects/partners for investment in Pakistan.
