111,619 cases
pending adjudication
in Sindh
KARACHI: The total number of registered cases in the various courts in Sindh at the end of November 1999, was 112,109. Of these 111,619 were pending adjudication.
The number of criminal cases as on November 30, 1999, in Sindh was 68,520 while the number of civil cases was 21,272 and cases before family laws courts in the province were 4,414. The remaining cases were related to other smaller categories.
District South Karachi led all other districts in Sindh with a total of 7,282 cases under hearing in the courts on the close of November, 1999, followed by district Larkana with 7,257 cases before the courts for hearing.
The number of registered criminal cases before the courts in Karachi West is 5,688, in East the cases are 5,646 and Karachi Central has 5,562 cases while Malir district has 4,140 cases in the courts relating to criminal charges.
Criminal cases before courts in Hyderabad were 5,452, in Thatta district 1,013, Badin district 884, Dadu district 2,674, in Tharparkar 124 cases, in Umarkot only 696 cases, in Mirpurkhas total of 1,854, in Nawabshah criminal cases before courts were 1,365, in Sukkur the criminal cases were 3,138 in Khairpur district 4,142, in Ghotki district 2,545, in Larkana 7,257, in Shikarpur 2,265 and in Jacobabad these were 3,490.
The civil cases numbers 21,273 at end of November, 1999 were distributed among the districts as follows:
Karachi South 4,219, Hyderabad 2,403, Karachi West, 2,188, Karachi East 2,196, Karachi Central 1,435, Malir 373. The family cases were 4,414. Of which 377 in Karachi South, 563 in Karachi West, Karachi East 910, Karachi Central 847 and Malir 101 while in Larkana these were 228.ÑUPP
