Honour for Pakistan

KARACHI: Abdul Hakeem Khan, Labour Officer of Fishermen's Cooperative Society, Fish Harbour, Karachi returned here after attending the tripartite meeting on safety and health in the fishing industry, held in Geneva, Switzerland, from December 13 to 17.

He was initially nominated by the FCS through Employers Federation of Pakistan for the event. Later on International Organisation of Employers and the International Labour Organisation (ILO) Geneva, Switzerland selected him on merit.

The officer was honoured to be elected as Vice President (employer member) during first meeting and later for the working party on resolutions as (employer vice chairperson). On December 14 he presided over the third plenary sitting of ILO. This being the first time ever in the history of fishery segment that such honour has been addressed for Pakistan and the Fishermen's Cooperative Society Limited, Fish Harbour, Karachi.
