Aslam Hayat in

quota violation case

LAHORE: The Accountability Court No 1 has summoned Aslam Hayat Qureshi who was serving as Additional Secretary, Federal Commerce Ministry, when ex-commerce minister Ahmad Mukhtar allegedly committed violations of textile quota regulations.

The court headed by Rafiq Goreja summoned him to record his statement in the case. About the other witness, Nayyar Bari, who was chairman, Textile Quota Board at that time, the court was apprised by the prosecutor, Javed Shaukat, that he was abroad.

The court directed Ahmad Mukhtar's counsel to furnish two surety bonds of Rs 1 million each to ensure his attendance in court. The hearing was adjourned till January 24,2000.

In another case, the court recorded statement of former chief minister Mian Manzoor Wattoo in the case of allocation of land for petrol pump. It was adjourned to January 26, next. Ñ APP
