ISLAMABAD: On the second death anniversary of Makhdoom Mohammad Sajjad Hussain Qureshi, a national literary conference is being held at a local hotel on Jan 23. Eminent personalities drawn from various parts of the country will highlight the services rendered by Makhdoom Sajjad, spiritual leader and prominent worker of the Pakistan Movement.ÑAPP

Jirga not allowed

SUKKUR: The Jacobabad administration did not allow the holding of a Jirga sitting, called by Sardar Baqa Muhammad Jekhrani, between two groups of Qambhrani tribe of Garhi Yasin. The decision was made in the light of the directive of Larkana Division Commissioner Nazar Hussain Mehar a few days ago, in which he had banned the holding of such jirgas to resolve tribal disputes involving killing, and had further directed the police to act according to laws.ÑAPP

Peshawar shivers

PESHAWAR: The recent rain and cloudy weather in Peshawar and in its adjoining areas during the last few days has brought an extra chill in the weather. Contrary to the figures of 4 and 5 degree celsius, the minimum temperature was reduced to 0.1 in Peshawar on Sunday morning. According to Met officials, the cold weather will prevail for another couple of days. The maximum temperature on Sunday was recorded at 16.5 degree celsius with 44 percent moisture.ÑAPP
