LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Saturday granted interim bail before arrest to a Wapda assistant director, Lahore, and his father in a petition challenging the theft case registered against them.

The petition filed by Tanvir Zafar, Director, and his father Zafar Islam through their counsel Khadim Hussain Qaisar submitted that they obtained Rs 2.05 million as loan from one Mohammad Bashir, an employee of State Life Insurance Corporation which they could not return within the time period fixed between the parties.

The counsel submitted that his clients later handed over two cheques of the full amount to Mohammad Bashir which bounced. On this, the respondent got a fraud case registered with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

He contended that the respondent also alleged that they (petitioners) burgled his house and stole valuable articles, which was a false and baseless allegation and they were innocent.

The petitioners prayed to the court to restrain FIA from arresting them, and the court directed that the petitioners be dealth with in accordance with the law.ÑAPP
