Growers to get
moong seed at
Rs 850/40 kg
LAHORE: The Punjab Seed Corporation (PSC) will provide the seed of the pulse, Moong to the growers at a rate of Rs 850 per 40 kg during the sowing season beginning in the province from mid-February.
According to a PSC spokesman here on Saturday, the Corporation would provide 8,000 bags of Niab varieties of 20-kg each to the Moong growers.
He said that the PSC had also maize seed stocks of 1000 bags of 100-kg to be provided for the spring cultivation of this cereal crop.
The cultivation of maize, a traditional cereal-cum-oilseed crop is likely to begin in the Punjab by the middle of the next month.
The main varieties to be sown this year are Sultan and Golden.
The PSC provided 0.55 million 100 kg bags of wheat seed to the growers during the recently concluded sowing season.
The PSC wheat seed target for this year's crop was 0.60 million bags.ÑAPP
