ITSC opposed

KARACHI: The All Pakistan Tax Bar Association (APTBA), apex body of more than a dozen income tax bar associations, has opposed government's proposal to do away with the Income Tax Settlement Commission (ITSC).

In a statement, Aptba chief, Z. H. Jaferi, said on Saturday that the Settlement Commission must stay as it has been an important channel for the settlement of tax disputes independent of tax administration.

He said, "Aptba is of the considered opinion that this commission is doing good work for settlement of income tax and wealth tax disputes, though our members who are advocates, chartered accountants and income tax practitioners."
