KARACHI: The Export Promotion Bureau has received an offer from CBI, Holland, for participation by manufacturers and exporters in a five-phased export promotion programme on personal protective clothing which includes heat resistant clothing, flame retarded clothing, body warmers, leather aprons, jackets of leather and fabrics, life vests, safety footwear, gloves, wrist strengtheners, helmets, masks, head caps, glasses, goggles, safety belts, climb ropes and fall nets etc.

The EPB has announced that the CBI has intimated that there is a growing market in Western Europe for personal protective clothing. The EU and EFTA total market for this type of clothing is estimated at $10 billion. Thus there is a great chance for companies in Pakistan which can offer quality products at competitive prices.

The programme consisting of five phases also includes CBI supported participation in international trade fair on Occupational Safety and Health at work, A+A 2001, Dusseldorf, Germany, November 2001.

The last date for application for first phase of the programme is March 1, 2000. More details and blank application form can be obtained from deputy director (PDD), EPB, Karachi.
