ISLAMABAD
The rupee showed slight improvement against the dollar on currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Friday.
The trading started with a stronger greenback at Rs 53.90 as compared to last rate of Rs 53.95. By the end of the day, dollar was sold at Rs 54.
Pound sterling opened at Rs 88.70 as compared to overnight value of Rs 88.60, and moved in the range between Rs 88.70 and Rs 88.80 and was sold at Rs 89.
The UAE dirham was bought and sold at Rs 14.68 and Rs 14.72 respectively and Saudi riyal opened at Rs 14.36 and sellers were offering 3 paisa more at Rs 14.38.
The German mark shed 10 paisa in its value, opening at Rs 28.30 as compared to Thursday's Rs 28.40. It remained higher in the kerb and was sold at Rs 28.60.
Mixed trend was observed in the money market of Rawalpindi, with moderate trading in greenback, pound and riyal in both morning and evening sessions, city dealers said.
Dollar and pound were bought and sold at the same rates as in Islamabad.
