Federation given 7 days to file reply in Mushahid case

RAWALPINDI: The Lahore High Court, Rawalpindi Bench, on Thursday gave one week to the Federation to furnish reply with regard to a writ petition challenging the detention of the former information minister Mushahid Hussain Sayed.

The writ petition was filed by Dushka Sayed, wife of Mushahid Hussain, through Malik Muhammad Rafiq advocate.

Qazi Ahmed Naeem Qureshi advocate, who represented the Federation requested the court to give him one week's time to submit a reply.

Mr. Justice Muhammad Nawaz Abbasi accepted the plea.

On this the petitioner's counsel said he had no objection on giving time to the respondents, but it should be decided today whether there was any case registered against Mushahid Hussain or not.

The court said, "Let the respondents furnish their reply."

When Muhammad Rafiq advocate inquired about the facilities provided to the former information minister, the court was informed that the family of Mushahid Hussain was allowed to meet him once a week. An English language newspaper was also being provided to him daily.

Malik Muhammad Rafiq requested provision of a radio set to Mushahid Hussain. The court deferred the decision on the request till next week. APP
