C'wealth essay competition

LAHORE: The UK Royal Commonwealth Society has announced March 1, 2000 as the deadline for participation in the Commonwealth essay competition.

According to British Council sources the competition provides a unique opportunity for young people of the Commonwealth to take part in a "truly international competition."

This competition is an established education project that recognises the use of Enlgish as a world language. Moreover, it encourages young writers to aspire to high standards of creativity.

All the important current issues within the Commonwealth and the world can be taken as the topics.

The competition is organised in four age groups: 16-18; 14-15; 12-13 and under 12 years.

Schools have been advised to hold local competitions in order to send best entries to the international competition. Four main prizes will be announced with a special prize for disabled entrants. APP
