FAISALABAD: Faisalabad received first winter rain after an extra ordinary long dry spell here on Tuesday.

The dry weather gripped in agro-industrial city of Punjab that also remained engulfed in thick fog durinig last 10 days. The business activities remained at low ebb due to heavy fog and severe cold.

The farming community was also disturbed due to delayed rains, and they badly needed down pour for the wheat and other rabi crops particularly during this period when canals were also closed for desilting.

The electricity remained suspended in most parts of the city before noon while the telecommunication service also witnessed some problems. Sewerage in some parts of the city also over flowing.

Earlier, people had offered special rituals (Nimaz-e-Istasqa) for rain on last Friday of Ramazan and God Almighty has responded to their prayers in the form of grain.

Light drizzle started after Fajr prayer and continued till the filing of the story with intermittent intervals. However, weather is still cloudy and more rain is expected during the next 24 hours.
