CE Secretariat calls for report on 97-99 contract appointments

T A MALIK

ISLAMABAD: The Chief Executive Secretariat has directed the Ministries and Divisions to send detailed report of the employees appointed on contract basis during the previous government of Nawaz Sharif from 1997 to 1999.

Sources said that Ministries have also been asked to constitute internal committees to review the contract employment and send the recommendations.

Following the directives of the Chief Executive Secretariat, the establishment division has constituted a three members committee to review the contract employment.

Sources said that the committee has recommended allowing two retired army officers, re-employed under 10 percent quota on the recommendations of DSOSB in establishment division, to complete their terms as per policy.

The committee recommended that 10 officers in BS-20 to 21 were appointed in Federal Services Tribunal as members on two to three year's tenure. All except Nabi Baksh Bhatti and Mehmood-ul-Haq Thanvi may be allowed to complete their tenure. The committee recommended that the services of both the officers Nabi Bakhsh and Mehmood-ul-Haq be terminated as the officers were appointed on extra-official basis.

The Chief Executive Secretariat has been requested by the committee to allow Iftikhar Mehmood, Sub-Engineer and Roshan Din and S. M. Farooq Ahmed to complete their tenure who were appointed in Federal Employees Benevolent and Group Insurance Funds, and National Institute of Public Administration, Lahore, and Karachi, respectively.

The committee has also recommended completing the terms of those who were appointed on contract basis from 1997 to 1999 in Federal Public Service Commission, Pakistan Administrative Staff College, Lahore, Civil Services Academy, Lahore and Secretariat Training Institute, Islamabad.
