Azim concerned

over increase in

house robberies

KARACHI: Sindh Governor Air Marshal Azim Daudpota (Retd) has expressed concern over the increasing house robberies and issued strict instructions for elimination of this crime.

He also stressed the need for control over car thefts and directed that the Balochistan government be contacted and effective measures be taken in this regard.

He was presiding over a high-level law and order meeting held at Governor Houuse which was also attended, among others by Rangers DG, Maj. Gen. Abdul Qadir Baloch, Police IG Aftab Nabi, Home Secretary Nisar Ahmed Siddiqui, Karachi Commissioner Shafique Rehman Paracha, Secretary to Governor Hifzur Rehman, CPLC Chief Jamil Yousaf, Karachi DIG, Javed Iqbal besides senior officials of law enforcement agencies.

The governor emphasised the need for elimination of culture of Pajero and Land Cruisers under official and police use and said that only field officers should use vehicles according to the requirement.

It was decided that diesel-operated vehicles and locally manufactured vehicles would be used by police and the same would be kept in order for an effective patrolling.

The directive was issued for solving the age old problem of stationary shortage at police stations due to inadequate budget and it was decided to provide appropriate funds for the purpose.

The governor issued instructions for taking special care of kiths and kins of martyred police personnel and it was decided that they would not be left uncared at any cost. It was decided that steps would be taken for the payment of their dues.

Azim also issued instructions that hurdles should not be allowed to take place in the flow of traffic at roads and round-abouts and said that Saddar and and Empress Market should be kept encroachment-free.

He warned of action against re-emergence of conroachments in these areas and said the entire staff of the concerned police station would be suspended in any such case.

Earlier, the meeting was briefed about latest law and order situation in Sindh province and was informed about significant decline in cases of murder, sectarian violence, police torture, illegal detention, kidnapping for ransom and highway dacoties.

The meeting was informed that cases of dacoities and car snatching do register a rise durinig Ramazan. However, this Ramazan there had been a considerable decline.ÑAPP
