clarification
KARACHI: The Association of Builders and Developers (Abad) on Tuesday categorically denied a press report, alleging that the association pursued the Provincial Secretary Housing and Town Planning for allowing occupation of dangerous and illegally constructed buildings.
In a clarification, Abad said that during a meeting with the secretary held on January 6, its delegation discussed various problems related to housing sector.
In the meeting it was pointed out that demand for completion certificate at the time of receipt of applications provision of water, electricity and gas connections was not in accordance with the Building Control Ordinance 1979.
The Abad had pointed out that as per SBCO, the completion/occupancy certificate is only given after availability of electricity, gas, water and other utilities.
According to the Abad, the housing and town planning secretary agreed with its point of view and promised that utility organisations would be directed to provide water, gas and electricity connections to buildings which had been completed in accordance with the approved plans.ÑAPP
