fair in September

KARACHI: Germany has invited Pakistani businessmen to visit and see the motorcycle trade fair scheduled to be held from September 13 to 17, 2000, at Munich.

Total exhibition space has been increased to 100,000 square metres. Higher number of exhibitors and visitors at motorcycle fairs this year has prompted this optimism. It is expected that new models and developments of the motorcycles manufacturers will be concentrated at Intermit Munchen 2000, the second international trade fair for motorcycles and scooters.

The motorcycle market in Europe had a boom year in 1999. In Germany, for example, from January to September 1999, 5.7 percent rise in registrations of motorcycle was recorded. This put the total number of motorcycles in Germany at above three million mark for the first year.

The largest share of this growth came in sports bikes, which accounted for 36.1 percent of the total market, followed by touring bikes at 31.3 percent.
