9 killed in tribal clash

SUKKUR: At least nine persons of Qambrani tribe were killed in a gun battle between two groups of the tribe on Friday evening in Golo Dero village of Garhi Yasin sub-division (Shikarpur district).

Reports received here said the two groups had been in conflict for some years over a piece of land, and the dispute flared up on Friday leading to an exchange of firing between them.

The shootout lasted for over an hour, reports said adding, as a result nine persons from both sides were killed. Six others were injured, two of them critically.

Following the clash some of the villagers of Golo Dero moved out to seek shelter in adjoining villages. APP
