in water supply

KARACHI: Nisar Sheikhani, Acting Chairman of Site Association of Industry (SAI), has urged General Pervez Musharraf, Chief Executive of Pakistan, and concerned ministers to direct the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) to assure sufficient water supply to the Site industrial areas so that the industries could run normally.

He said that the country at this point of time was in dire need of foreign exchange and that could only be earned only if industries ran properly and export commitments were fulfilled. But some hidden hand was working to reduce exports by restricting the supply of industrial essential inputs like water.

He said Site industrial area was facing acute shortage of water and added that KWSB supplying three to four lakh gallons of water per day whereas the requirement of more than 2,000 industries was of 20 mgd.
