Kashmir solidarity day in Tehran

ISLAMABAD: Pakistani Ambassador to Iran Javed Hussain has called upon the international community to force India to honour its commitment made with the Kashmiri people, Radio Tehran reported. Addressing a ceremony held at Pakistan Embassy in Tehran in connection with Kashmir solidarity day the Ambassador said that peaceful solution to Kashmir lies in holding of plebiscite under the auspices of the United Nations.

Referring to the 53 years struggle of the Kashmiris for their right to self-determination, Javed Hussain said that Kashmir is the oldest unresolved issue on the UN agenda. He added that Pakistan would continue political and diplomatic support to the people of Kashmir.ÑAPP

One killed

RAWALPINDI: Some unidentified assailants killed a person here on Saturday night at Dhoke Chiraghdin. According to Civil Lines police, Asif son of Mohammad Akram, resident of Dhok Chiraghdin, was shot dead by unidentified person. The father of the deceased told the police that Amir informed him on Saturday night that his son received bullet injuries near Dhoke Chiraghdin graveyard. He said when he reached the site he saw the body of his son in a pool of blood. Police have registered a case and are investigating.ÑAPP

Taxi-driver killed

RAWALPINDI: The body of a young taxi-driver was found in his vehicle on Sunday at Mandra. Mandara police were informed that a body was lying in a taxi No PRK 2401. The SHO Mandra Police Station went to the site and saw the body of young-driver, who according to police, was murdered. Police recovered a driving license and national identity card. The name of the deceased according to documents found from the taxi is Ch Mohammad Ilyas son of Ch Hukamdad.ÑAPP

Boy crushed to death by a taxi

RAWALPINDI: A school-going boy was crushed to death by a taxi here in the jurisdiction of airport police. Faiz Ahmed Khan uncle of the deceased Yasir Ayaz (10) told the police that his nephew was going home from school when a taxi No. 2249 hit him near Chauhan Chowk. The boy was taken to hospital in critical condition where he succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the taxi was identified as Yasir Hussain.ÑAPP

Jashn-e-Rohi

BAHAWALPUR: Jashn-e-Rohi would be celebrated here from March 23 to 31, under the auspices of local district administration. According to official sources flowers show, books and pictures exhibitions would be held in the city on the occasion. Wheat smuggling bid foiled

D G KHAN: Police check-post Qamber Tehsil Taunsa on Saturday arrested a driver Ghulam Sarwar and recovered 290 bags wheat and 10 bags 'maida' from his truck No. 9150, which was being smuggled to Balochistan from Muzaffargarh. A case under food stuff control act has been registered and further investigations are in progress.ÑAPP

Agri census in Nankana

NANKANA SAHIB: The national agriculture census is in progress Nankana Sahib sub-division and will continue till March 6. During this drive, at least one million families will be contacted to fill in the questionnaire regarding various crops. As many as 100 villages have been selected for the visit of the revenue department staff in the sub-division in this regard.ÑAPP

Six outlaws arrested

NANKANA SAHIB: The local police in its raids arrested six outlaw including four proclaimed offenders during last 48 hours at Nankana Sahib sub-division. During a raid at the resident of a former minority councillor Sharif Masih the police arrested Ishaq Masih and Irshad Masih besides recovery of 20 bottles of liquor. The main accused Sharif Masih managed to escape. Sadar Police, Nankana Sahib also arrested four proclaimed offenders, Bakhta of Faisalabad, Mohammad Waris of Mangtanwala, Saifullah of Khanqah Dogran and Ayub of Tandlianwala.ÑAPP
