Governor asks DCs to arrange examination of kids' disability

LAHORE: With a view to saving every child with visual, hearing and speech impediments, from permanent disability owing to lack of government attention or poverty of parents, the Governor of Punjab Lt.Gen Mohammad Safdar (Retd), has directed all the divisional commissioners to immediately make befitting arrangements for the examination of such disabled children, attending a government of private institution, in their respective area of jurisdiction.

In a directive issued to all the commissioners here on Sunday, the Governor asked them to let the Governor's secretariat know in case of absence of investigative facilities in a division, so that appropriate arrangements could be made at such other places where this facility could be extended in the most convenient manner. Similarly, where equipment or corrective surgery is needed, the concerned commissioner may arrange the same locally thorough financial support from the public as far as possible, otherwise Government secretariat may be approached for financial or administrative assistance in needy cases.

The Governor has also directed the provincial Health and Educational departments to make necessary coordination for getting the vision of all children in the schools to be tested. The Governor has also asked for report with regard to the arrangements made and actions initiated from each commissioner within next ten days.
