'India can't

usurp Kashmiris'

right to freedom'

PESHAWAR: The NWFP Governor Lt Gen Mohammad Shafiq (Retd) has said no force on earth could suppress or usurp the right of any nation struggling for independence and as such Indian atrocities could not deter the determination of Kashmiris for their right to self-determination.

They (Indians) should learn a lessen from others also who failed to usurp the rights of those struggling for their independence throughout the world, he added. The sacrifices of Kashmiri brethren would bring fruitful results and the day is not far away when they would emerge successful in achieving their just cause of self-determination.

He stated this while addressing a seminar held to mark the 'Kashmir Solidarity Day' at Nishtar Hall on Saturday.

Present on the occasion were Corps Commander Peshawar Lt. Gen. Saeed-uz-Zafar, provincial ministers, Chief Secretary NWFP and other high officials. The seminar was attended by a large number of people from all walks of life.

The governor said that unity amongst our ranks and files would strengthen further the Kashmiris Movement for freedom and help in accelerating their struggle for independence. He said that Pakistan is a fortress of Islam and a source of power and backing for Muslims all over the world.

Earlier, provincial Minister for Information Syed Imtiaz Hussain Gilani, Minister for Health Dr Shaheen Sardar Ali and Minister for religious Affairs Qari Roohullah, prominent journalist Ashraf Dar addressing the seminar said, Kashmiris would succeed in their just cause and they deserved to be extended help morally and politically in their right cause.

BALOCHISTAN GOVERNOR

QUETTA: Balochistan Governor Justice Amirul Mulk Mengal (Retd) has said the people of Balochistan are with their Kashmiri brethren in their freedom struggle against Indian occupation and will not leave them in their hour of trial.

Speaking at a seminar held here on Saturday in connection with Kashmir Solidarity Day, he said it was satisfying to note that the people of Balochistan were expressing their solidarity with people of other parts of the country and staging rallies and functions throughout the province.

The Governor said the valiant Kashmiris were struggling for their right to self-determination for the last 52 years.

He stated that the Muslim majority areas and states were allowed to join Pakistan at the time of partition but despite being a majority Muslim state, the people of Kashmir were deprived of their basic right and India through a conspiracy occupied the territory.

The governor recalled that the then prime minister of India Jawahar Lal Nehru promised to grant right of self-determination to the Kashmiri people while the United Nations with majority vote passed resolutions to hold plebiscite. However, he did not keep his promise and refused to respect these resolutions.

He said the Indian forces negating all civic norms and conscience had unleashed a rein of terror against the innocent Kashmiri people and subjected them to all kinds of atrocities.

However, the freedom loving Kashmiri people never accepted Indian rule and had waged a relentless freedom movement, he stressed.

Others who spoke on the occasion included Provincial Education Minister Prof Razia Babar, Commissioner Quetta Marjan Khan and Tamir-e-Nau College Principle Prof Fazal Haq Mir.

Later, the governor inaugurated a photographic and poster exhibition depicting the struggle of Kashmiri people and the Mujahideen.ÑAPP
