Baig's appointment as commerce secretary hailed

KARACHI: Azhar H. Elahi, former chairman of Prgmea (South zone), has welcomed the appointment of Mirza Qamar Baig as commerce secretary and described him a right man for the right place at the right time.

Elahi said in a statement that Baig had proved his mettle during his tenure as the vice chairman of the Export Promotion Bureau where he initiated several measuers to bring about transparency and efficiency in its operation.

Elahi felt that Baig commands respect amongst the exporters due to his knowledge of their concerns, his grasp over the Bureau's administration and his courage to take bold decisions wherever Pakistanis exports were at stake.

Pakistan Cloth Merchants Association Central Chairman A Sattar Chinoy has also welcomed the appointment. He expressed the hope that Baig in his new capacity will do its best in the progress and economic development of Pakistan.
