Religious parties programmes to express solidarity with Kashmiris

LAHORE: The religious parties have finalised their preparations to hold walks, rallies, seminars and other programmes on Saturday (February 5) to express solidarity with the Kashmiri brethren against unjustified occupation of Kashmir by the Indian forces.

Most active parties in this regard are Lashkar-e-Taiba and the Jamaat-e-Islami which have devised programmes throughout the country while they have established camps in Lahore at prominent places, mobilising people to make February 5 strike a success.

They have also pasted posters and banners in the city drawing attention towards the plight of the Kashmiris at the hands of Indian forces and highlighting the issue.

The Jamaat-e-Islami would hold "Kashmir Walk" in Lahore in the morning at Shahrae Quaid-e-Azam.

The walk would start from Nasir Bagh and culminate at Punjab Assembly Hall. The walk would be led by JI Secretary General, Syed Munawwar Hassan.

While in the evening, Lashkar-e-Taiba will hold a public meeting at Mall Road at Regal Chowk. According to its spokesman, Lashkar-e-Taiba and Markaz Dawatul-Irshad Chief Hafiz Mohammad Saeed will be the key speaker on this occasion.

Similarly, the Markazi Jamaat Ahle-Hadith, Pakistan, would also arrange rallies across the country while their main programme "Kashmir Independence Conference" would be arranged at the central party office in Lahore.

Other religious parties such as Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (Qadri), JUI (Fazl-ur-Rehman) and others have also announced to arrange functions to make the day a success.

PAT walk

Pakistan Awami Tehrik (PAT) will hold a walk in the city on Saturday. The walk is being held to show solidarity with the people of the occupied Kashmir.

Maj. Anwar Ahmad Alvi (Retd), Secretary General, PAT, along with Maj. Aftab Lodhi (Retd), Chief Organizer, PAT, will lead the walk.
