Govt mulls amendment in transfer policy

ISLAMABAD: The federal government is considering to amend the "transfer policy" of the district management and police service groups, sources told Business Recorder.

The Establishment Division has forwarded a proposal to the competent authority to change the transfer policy of grade 17 officers of both the groups for initial posting.

According to proposal, the officers will have to serve first five years in any province, other than their own, to be eligible to transfer to some other province.

Currently, the district management and police officers are given choice to serve first three years of their service in their own province.

Sources said that the amendments would help eliminate corruption and the officers will serve without any pressure.

Sources said the current policy has proved failure because the officers after joining the duties tried to oblige their near ones out of the way and some political groups were using them to achieve their motives.
