Cleanliness drive in full swing

KARACHI: Cleanliness drive in Karachi is going on in full swing under the supervision of the Governor's inspection team, says a statement on Friday.

It said that the cleansing of the storm water drain and sewerage nallahs is continuing and the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB), Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and DMCs are taking part in the drive in collaboration with the Karachi Cantonment Board, Site and various civic bodies.

In Orangi Town area the cleaning of 6,500 feet of nallah has been completed.

The KMC is also carrying out the cleanliness drive in various areas of the city whereas the Cantonment Board has taken up such a task actively in Defence, Korangi and other areas.

All available resources, manpower and machinery is being utilised.

It said that on the directive of the Governor, his inspection team has also initiated a drive in the schools to highlight the principles of hygiene and keeping the environment clear.

Under the same drive, cleanliness would also be taken up in the schools for two hours. Special lectures have also been arranged.ÑAPP
