Live high tension
wire stolen!
RECORDER REPORT
KARACHI: The Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) on Friday came out with an incomprehensible reason with regard disruption of power supply to water pumping stations.
It claimed that on Friday morning the 132 kv extra high tension line at Pipri worth over Rs. 2 million was stolen. How a 132 kv line, generally energised with 440 voltage, could be stolen by the thieves with their bare hands, was not explained.
Explaining failure of power supply to the water pumping stations, the corporation said that early on Friday morning transmission lines at Gharo and Dhabeji Grid stations became dead, disrupting supply to the water pumping stations. However, the conductors were replaced by new ones.
