Iesco's new industrial licencing policy discussed

ISLAMABAD: Several issues relating to the WAPDA and business community were discussed between the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) and Brigadier Waseem Zafar, Chief Executive of Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) during his visit to the (ICCI) on Thursday.

IESCO Chief Executive held a detailed meeting with the ICCI members, traders and industrialist of the twin cities.

The meeting focused on IESCO's new industrial licensing policy, load extension and tariff policy, rules and tariff for revival of sick industries, payment of IESCO bills in instalments and installation of TOD energy meters for B-2 tariff, says a press release of ICCI issued on Thursday.

Addressing the ICCI members, Brigadier Waseem Zafar said that after Army takeover, WAPDA is showing progress and improvement.

He said the government is determined to eradicate corruption from WAPDA and at the same time improve its performance.

Brigadier Waseem Zafar stated that the connections were being given within one month and complaints are also received through e-mail.

He further said that the facility of depositing bills has been extended to post offices.

The IESCO Chief Executive assured the business community that in efforts would be made to carry out maintenance works by the WAPDA other than working days so industrial work may not suffer.

He said that sick units might work after depositing 10 percent of WAPDA dues thereafter the balance could be paid in 12 equal instalments.

Waqar Aslam ICCI President suggested that to form an arbitration committee for settlement of dispute between business community and WAPDA with participation of members of Islamabad Chamber.
