Foreign delegates of Kashmir siminar meet CE
ISLAMABAD: The foreign delegates to the International Seminar on Kashmir on Thursday called on Chief Executive General Pervez Musharraf and discussed a wide-range of issues pertaining to prevailing situation in South Asia.
The meeting, which lasted for about 75 minutes, covered Indo-Pakistan relations with special reference to Kashmir and its peaceful resolution and the enhancement of the role of United Nations Military Observers Group for India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) towards this end.
The issue of Afghanistan and the measures being taken by Pakistan to combat terrorism and its support to other nations in this regard were also discussed in the meeting.
Pakistan's stand on Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty (CTBT) and government's efforts to built national consensus on this issue also figured in the meeting.
The meeting was followed by a question-answer session.
The delegation comprised intellectuals, scholars and journalists. They included Pamela Constable of Washington Post, Christina Lamb of the United Kingdom, Ms. Victoria Schofield, authors of books, "Kashmir in Crossfire," and, "Kashmir in Conflict," Dr. Robert G. Wirsing, Professor in University of California, Ginna Lewis, Swiss journalists, Alamgir Mohiuddin, Advisory Editor to," the New Nation," of Bangladesh, Gao Hang, Director of Institute of World Economics and Politics, China, Wang Hao, Director International News Department of China Daily, Mujahid Maligee, journalist, Ahmed Sumargone, Member of Indonesian House of Representatives, Mohammad Muzni Yunus, Incharge of Foreign Affairs at Indonesian, Islamic Council for Da'wah, Nim Kanta Pandey, Editor of Jana Dharana of Nepal, Junaid Mohamed Hilmi, Sri Lanka and Dr. Yilmaz Altung, Dean of Istanbul University.
