KARACHI: Dr. Khawar Jameel, Managing Director, Sindh Small Industries Corporation (SSIC), on Thursday called upon all the chambers of commerce and industries in Sindh to come forward and motivate investors to invest in small industrial units in Sindh Small Industrial Estates (SSIEs).

Addressing allottees of plots in the Sukkur SSIE on his first official visit to Sukkur after assuming the charge as SSIC managing director, he said SSIEs have all the infrastructure facilities like water, power, gas, road and sewerage which are the basic requirement for establishing new units and providing best opportunity to investment.

He said the SSIC has allocated 289 industrial plots for the establishment of 189 different new units at the Sukkur SSIE, whereas, at present, 154 units are in operation on 241 plots, including rice mills, oil expelling plants, light engineering, furniture and air cooler units, and flour mills, etc.

He advised the SSIC regional director and Director (Civil) to solve problems, if any, and ensure functioning of all industrial units aimed at strengthening the national economy and generating employment opportunities for the local man power.

Earlier, Dr. Khawar Jameel also visited the Sukkur SSIE artisan complex, where 50 workshops were allotted to the needy craftsmen.
