109 'proclaimed offenders' held in Faisalabad

FAISALABAD: The Faisalabad police arrested 109 'proclaimed offenders' during a special campaign in January 2000 and recovered a large quantity of illicit arms from their possession. This was stated by Aftab Ahmed Cheema, senior superintendent of police, Faisalabad, here on Thursday.

These proclaimed offenders were wanted in a number of dacoity, highway robberies and murder cases since long the SSP said.

The police also launched a campaign against the recovery of illicit arms during the month of January and recovered one Klashnikov, 33 rifles, 76 revolvers, 98 pistols, 2 carbines and large quantity of cartridges.

He said that the police also launched a crack-down against narcotic/drug dealers and arrested a number of drug pushers and recovered 30 kg charas, over four kg opium, 6 kg heroin and unearthed 6 working stills of liquor and apprehended 68 drunkards.
