Zardari allowed to amend petition

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court, on request of Asif Zardari's counsel, allowed him to amend the petition filed against Ehtesab Bench Rawalpindi's decision to hear Steel Mills case. Raja Anwer, counsel for Asif Zardari, requested the court that after National Accountability Bureau Ordinance he needed to amend the petition. The bench, comprising Chief Justice Irshad Hasan Khan and Justice Chaudhry Mohammad Arif, allowed him to amend the petition. The matter was adjourned for date in office to come before the court in the fourth week of April 2000.ÑAPP

Hyderabad Law College admissions

HYDERABAD: The Principal, Government Sindh Law College, Hyderabad said here on Wednesday that admission to LLB-Part-I for the year 1999-2000 has commenced from January 31, 2000. All students having qualified B.A/B.Sc/B.Com/B.S.W/B.Sc (Home Economics) Part-II examinations in the year 1998 or earlier from Sindh University can apply for the course. Admission will be granted on merit after interview and the last date of admission with normal fees is March 5, he said.ÑAPP

Pak team wins in debating preliminaries

LAHORE: The 5-member Pakistan students debating team currently in Pittsburgh, US to participate in the 10th World Schools Debating Championship has maintained its winning streak. According to a press release on Wednesday by Pakistan Debating Society, the Pak team which had earlier defeated the world champion Scotland by a margin of 3-0, have beaten German and Welsh team by 3-0 and 2-1 verdicts of the judges, in the preliminary rounds held on Tuesday. As many as 28 countries are participating in the championship. Pakistan is represented by Omar Shahab, Assad Ahmad, Afsandyar Qureshi, Sofyan Sultan and Shahpur Kabraji.ÑAPP

 

PSC without head for over a month

LAHORE: The Pakistan Seed Corporation (PSC) is working without any full-time managing director since the expiry of contract of its former head Brig Mohammad Aziz Ahmad Khan (Retd) on December 31 last. According to PSC sources here on Wednesday, the delay in the appointment of new managing director has drastically affected the working of the corporation responsible for the provision of certified seed of various crops to the growers. Punjab Agriculture Secretary Rana Nasim Ahmad, holding the additional charge of PSC managing director is at present attending a course at Nipa.ÑAPP

TTP workers in Kashmir Day programmes

ISLAMABAD: President of the Tahrik-e-Takmil-e-Pakistan (TTP) Mahmud Ali on Wednesday appealed the party workers to participate in "Kashmir Solidarity Day" programmes to make the day a complete success. The TTP president, in a press statement issued here, said, "I appeal to every worker of the TTP to join hands with the government and everyone also irrespective of party affiliation to make February 5 programmes a complete success and thereby help the people of Kashmir to extricate themselves from the tyranny of India and to win freedom".ÑAPP
